Nice little breakfast/ lunch/ brunch spot. I guess this was under different management and based on the article I read related to the former management, it's impressive that Maxine's cafe not only didn't give up; but they are a delicious and running business once more. Definitely seems to be a staple of the community with many regulars coming on the times I've dined and also plenty of sometimes visitors like myself. Food served hot and without delay all with a smile, yeah Maxine's is worth a try.

SECOND TIME AROUND! Sal! What a gem! We remembered the restaurant b4 and he brought us up to speed on how it became Maxine's! Wow! Honestly, it's even better aesthetically speaking! (IYKYK) Very neighborhood feeling and the attention to little people detail makes it super family friendly! Use of outside space! Who knew! I NEVER liked how to enter the restroom before, to me to enter from the street gave it a gas station feel. Nice to enter from the other side! Talk about a rising from the ashes! P.S. great breakfast! Ty! We will stop by again when in the area! Outside next time!

We had such a tasty and fun mid-week breakfast at Maxine's. The service is personal, the food delicious. Used to come all the time back in the Maxwell days - so happy to see they are back open. They have indoor and outdoor tables and games for kids.

I don't know if anyone else visited this place when it was called Maxwells before it got downgraded from an A to a B, to what I think was a C health grade briefly, but I might be mistaken. Everything has changed for the better. The kitchen is open, and waitstaff is friendlier, we had "Sal" and he actually genuinely made me laugh. Plus, he remembered my mom's order, and she's notoriously difficult to serve. Even the music is better, and it feels happier and more lively. Definitely would recommend checking it out again if you'd given up on it like I had... it's the same as it was more than a decade ago, maybe even a little better? It was the best place I've been to for breakfast in the area for years. The food was better too than before. 5/5, will be coming back again soon.
